An Holistic Approach..
Lieke van der Werf - Integrative Therapy en Dascha Willemsen - The Holistic Dietician work together to support clients on multiple levels of recovery. Our collaboration focuses not only on releasing stored tension and processing emotional experiences, but also on restoring the microbiome and optimizing the gut-brain axis.
Physical symptoms such as digestive issues rarely exist in isolation. They are often connected to nervous system dysregulation, chronic stress or unresolved trauma, as well as physiological imbalances within the body.
The complementary program at The Holistic Dietitian focuses on restoring gut health by addressing bacterial balance, supporting the intestinal mucus layer, and reducing inflammatory processes, thereby creating a stable physiological foundation for recovery.
Through an extensive intake process, personalized nutrition and lifestyle guidance, and evidence-informed laboratory testing with tailored recommendations, the program works toward optimizing the microbiome, supporting hormonal balance, and regulating the nervous system.
Key areas of focus include reducing inflammation, supporting the repair of increased intestinal permeability (often referred to as leaky gut), and correcting bacterial imbalances within the gut ecosystem.

The gut–brain axis describes the close connection between emotions, stress, the brain, and the gut microbiome, and how these systems influence how you feel — both physically and mentally.
Yes! Scientific studies have shown that hypnotherapy can be effective in reducing IBS symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation. It helps calm your nervous system and supports a healthier response of your gut to stress and emotions.
With IBS, the gut is often extra sensitive and reacts strongly to stress and tension. During hypnotherapy, we use relaxation techniques and subconscious suggestions to improve the connection between your brain and your gut.
We also explore the deeper causes of the stress you experience, such as old patterns, unresolved emotions, or beliefs that may be affecting how you feel without you even realizing it. By bringing these to light and working through them, you can create more space, calm, and balance. Not just in your mind, but also in your belly.
No, absolutely not. There are a lot of misconceptions around hypnosis, especially because of the media and stage hypnotists. However, in hypnotherapy we use hypnosis for therapeutic purposes. You always remain in control and aware of what’s happening. Hypnosis is a very natural state, you actually go into hypnosis all the time, for example when you're daydreaming or getting completely absorbed in a book or movie.
It’s different for everyone, most people start noticing improvements after some sessions. On average, 6 to 12 sessions are needed, depending on the complexity and how ready you are to dive in. Some things shift quickly, while deeper patterns often take more time and space.
You don’t need to change your medication or diet without first discussing it with your doctor or healthcare provider. That said, many people notice fewer symptoms over time, which sometimes means you need less support; always in consultation with your healthcare provider.
In that case, hypnotherapy can be especially powerful. And that's actually very common. Stress and emotions can have a big impact on how your gut functions. In hypnotherapy, we work on calming your nervous system and addressing the deeper emotional patterns that may be contributing to your symptoms, so you can feel more at ease, both physically and emotionally.
If the internet cuts out during hypnosis, there’s no need to worry. You’ll gently come back to full awareness on your own, just like waking up naturally in the morning without an alarm.
